36th Movement of Pure Burnout...

By: Bruce Mbingeleli

Soshanguve Spin King (SSK) held a Spinning and Drifting event in Commemoration of Youth Day at Block F in Soshanguve on Saturday June 16.

Motoring enthusiasts came out in their numbers to support the Soshanguve Spin Kings. The purpose was to create a similar atmosphere to that of 1976 Soweto uprising by spinners burning tyres through the slip differential system of the BMW E30 also known as the “Gusheshe” as opposed to tyres going up in flames. Motoring heads come together to support and pay their respect to the youth, since it’s the youth celebration and there was no other way to do this than wearing their retrospective school uniform.

Bongani Makhuba elaborates on the event on how phenomenal and important this day was to the society, “The uprising happened in June16 1976, this happened to school pupils right, so we here in commemorating what has happened in those days and argued people to wear their school uniform.”

Different Spinners and Drifters from Gauteng, Limpopo, Mafikeng, North West, and Free State come in their numbers to entertain the township of Soshanguve. This was one spectular way of showing and paying their respect to the youth of ’76.
